Alpha-Hydroxy Acid

  1. What are the alpha-hydroxy acid ingredients in AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream?

Our patented ULTRAPLEX® formula is an extra-strength blend of three moisturizing compounds (ammonium lactate, sodium lactate, and potassium lactate) that come from lactic acid—a naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acid.

  2. What’s with acid on the skin?

The lactic acid in AmLactin® is a naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that helps skin shed old cells and retain moisture. What’s more, our AHA formulas contain creamy emollients and rich humectants that help repair dry skin.

AmLactin® Cream

  1. Where is AmLactin® Cream?

AmLactin® Cream has been replaced with AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream. The original cream should be available in stores and online until inventory has been depleted. CVS® and Walgreens® are now carrying the AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream, and it should be available at other retailers soon.

  2. Why did the cream change?

The original AmLactin® Cream formula was very similar to the lotion (with 12% lactic acid), only slightly thicker and packaged in a 4.9 oz tube. We updated our graphics, repackaged our AmLactin XL® formula (which is thicker and has improved hydrating properties), and changed the name to provide the best possible product to our valued customers.

AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream (formerly AmLactin XL®)

  1. What happened to AmLactin XL®?

After months of research, current and new consumers told us the name “ultra” was more appealing and resonated more with them and their skin care needs. So we listened. We repackaged one of our best formulas into a new, softer tube for easier dispensing and gave it a new name. AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream will eventually replace AmLactin® Cream and AmLactin XL® dry skin cream formulas.

  2. I don’t see AmLactin® Cream on your list. Why?

AmLactin® Cream has been replaced with AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream. The original dry skin cream should be available in stores and online until inventory has been depleted.

  3. Is Ultra the same as XL?

Yes, it sure is! It’s the same great patented ULTRAPLEX® formula.

  4. Where can I find Ultra in the store?

It used to be available only behind the pharmacy counter, but now AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream can be found in the moisturizer aisle of select retailers. For the one nearest you, click here.

  5. What is AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream?

It’s the ultimate triple action alpha-hydroxy therapy with our patented ULTRAPLEX® formula that smooths, repairs, and softens severely dry skin (try saying that three times fast). For more detailed information, visit our AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream page.

  6. How is Ultra different from the lotion?

While they both share a similar alpha-hydroxy acid base, the lotion contains 12% lactic acid to gently exfoliate and intensely hydrate rough, dry skin. AmLactin® Ultra contains the patented ULTRAPLEX® formula—an extra-strength blend of three alpha-hydroxy acid moisturizers that come from lactic acid to help combat severely dry skin areas. Ultra is much thicker for those tough, persistent dry skin areas.
